Overview

Driving through New England, you start to see a pattern: Manchester (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine), Salem (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire), Amherst (Massachusetts, New Hampshire) and on and on and on. That got me thinking, is this just a New England thing?

For this fun little project, I created an interactive infographic that shows some facts about U.S. city names and lets users see how common different names are. It was a fun way to experiment with D3.js and large data sets (geonames.org).
