Developed in partnership with Sanofi, iBGStar was the first FDA-cleared blood glucose monitor that connects directly to the iPhone®. It works in conjunction with the iBGStar Diabetes Manager iPhone app.
Design Challenges
The iBGStar interface had unique challenges due to the small size and overall design of the device.
Small screen size
One challenge with this meter was determining how to display all necessary information on a very small screen.
Localization
In order to maximize distribution potential, the meter was designed with almost no text (just numbers and icons).
Single button navigation
With only one button, the meter’s functionality was kept to a minimum to create a streamlined user experience.
